Antiviral therapy of chronic HBV infection in pregnancy

چکیده
We describe a 27-year-old hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected pregnant woman, with a history of miscarriage a year ago. The patient has been HBsAg and HBeAg positive for 20 years but has never been treated for HBV infection, because of stable elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity and high viral load. Treatment with tenofovir disoproxil was introduced in the 10th week of pregnancy and HBV DNA became undetectable. The clinical course of pregnancy was normal and the patient gave birth by caesarean section to a healthy child. At birth the newborn was HBsAg negative, after 3 months of follow-up is healthy, and evaluation of HBV status will be scheduled shortly. The decision to treat HBV infection during pregnancy should be individualized.

UNLABELLED Perinatal or mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains the major risk factor for chronic HBV infection worldwide. In addition to hepatitis B immune globulin and vaccination, oral antiviral therapies in highly viremic mothers can further decrease MTCT of HBV. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to synthesize the evidence on the efficacy and ...

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a global public health problem. In endemic areas, HBV infection occurs mainly during infancy and early childhood, with mother to child transmission (MTCT) accounting for approximately half of the transmission routes of chronic HBV infections. Prevention of MTCT is an essential step in reducing the global burden of chronic HBV. Natal transmission accounts for...

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) affects 350 million individuals worldwide. Perinatal transmission leads to high rates of chronic infection and complications, including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is important to recognize and appropriately treat CHB in pregnancy, thereby reducing the risk of neonatal transmission and HBV-associated morbidity and mortality. Screening for CHB is recommen...

Introduction: Occurrence of detectable amounts of viral antigen or viral particles in the blood of infected patients with Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a significant characteristic of HBV infection. Detection of HBV antigen or its DNA among individuals of a community is a crucial factor to know the burden of HBV infection. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is a suitable marker of HBV infection b...
